SHOW & FRAME
With its elegant slender picture frame edge and special ‘cut-out’ shelves, Show & Frame is a bespoke rectangular cabinet inspired by 17th century trompe l’oeil painting ‘Kleinodien-Shrank’ by Georg Hainz. The original painting, which is in the collection of the Amsterdam Museum in The Netherlands, can be seen here.
The cabinet pictured here was made in charred pine, a surface treatment favoured in Japan since the 1700s, and polished to a sheen. Three ‘cut-out’ shelves allow space for extra-large items; these shelves can be replaced with the accompanying closed shelves if not required.
