SHOW & FRAME

With its elegant slender picture frame edge and special ‘cut-out’ shelves, Show & Frame is a bespoke rectangular cabinet inspired by 17th century trompe l’oeil painting ‘Kleinodien-Shrank’ by Georg Hainz. The original painting, which is in the collection of the Amsterdam Museum in The Netherlands, can be seen here.

The cabinet pictured here was made in charred pine, a surface treatment favoured in Japan since the 1700s, and polished to a sheen. Three ‘cut-out’ shelves allow space for extra-large items; these shelves can be replaced with the accompanying closed shelves if not required.

What is included:

  • Size 850mm x 68mm x 160mm

(10% adjustment allowed)

  • Traditional choice of local/British woods including evenly grained and strongly patterned options, or a modern man-made board, plain wood with colour paint;

  • Traditional waxed, oiled or lacquered finish, modern varnish or lacquer finish

Each cabinet is individually numbered and supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity.

If you feel inspired but favour something tailored to you own needs, we also offer a fully commissioned service.
